Help! NaNoWriMo angst

I am joining hundreds of thousands of other nutters and would-be-novelists in National Novel Writing Month -or NaNoWriMo as they like to call it!

I’m going to try to average 2000 words a day,so I get to about 60K by the end of November. I’ll also post progress here and write about other stuff when I need some distraction.

Please can I ask for your help – I have three ideas for a novel and I cannot decide which to start on; so I thought I would ask you literary, intelligent, people in the blogo-sphere (and my genius subscribers) to vote.

A cuckoo in the nest

You can read some of my starting fragments from the menu above. It’s semi-autobiographical and tells a hopeful (in the end) story of my family history from my mother’s life in an Irish convent to her death. I want to avoid this becoming misery lit and my aim is to outline the often bitter-sweet relationship between mothers and daughters. (See also “The only picture I have of my mother” post.)

Penile Dementia

A series of romantic and not so romantic tales from life, with me as the unfortunate protagonist on the funny, sad, tragic, ridiculous relationships I have had over the years. See “An unsuitable boyfriend” as an example in the menu above.

Witch Bitch

This is a new idea I’ve been kicking around after meeting with some local Druids and Witches at the local park (Hampshire is a strange place!) and having a long chat with the teenage daughter of one of the witches. It centres on the adventures of a teenage witch who exacts revenge and gets into a lot of adventures and troubles by dabbling in magick. A modern, proto-feminist tale, on the darkly funny side. Buffy with balls. (Probably the most blatantly commercial of the three)

Please, please, take a second to vote. Which would you prefer to read – or do you think these ideas are crap?! I promise to abide by your wise group decision. And if anyone else is taking part, please let me know, we can support each other!
